The Edge Of Reason

You Can Never Tell Which Way The Train Went By Looking At The Rails

Mid Summer Night's Dream

Now!Here I am with my new post!
There's something very magical and interesting about the summers,I don't know ,can't explain if u want me to but I just love them.
It all started when I was a kid.We stayed at a place called Ghatotand,it's a settlement of the employees of the Tata Steel. My Dad is the second generation of employees of the Tata Steel,my grandfather came to the place in the early 1940s,he was among the highly revered officers of the place,my dad joined the company when he was in his 20s,got married mom and moved in.
The place is heaven on earth,it's not simply because I spent the whole of my childhood at that place, but because it actually is.The small place has been designed by French architects who worked for the firm then, needless to say the roads, the buildings are all awesome with sprawling gardens and parks, a perfect combination of concrete and the greens.Every house has a garden and thanks to the company electricity, water, houses, telephones all are free.
We stayed with my grandparents till I my first grade then we moved in to a new house.I loved every morning and every evening in the house. We had a huge garden with two large Ashoka trees guarding the entrance to the house,a small kitchen garden,a lawn for our evening tea sessions and many more trees. My grandfather loves gardening and mom says the plants love him too for every swig he planted came to life, she says I inherited that.
I enjoyed gardening with him.I loved the summer evenings, the small parties I attended, the twilight games we played as kids.Wish I had a time machine and could go back to those times!
Few summers later Grandpa retired from his job,he left to the house he had built with all his savings.I was making new friends at the school, though it had been two years since I had been to the school still I was always intimidated and bullied.I was starting to make some serious news with my performance in academics but remained the same second rate player in cricket. But man did I love playing in the evenings!
We came back after the school in the afternoon, had to walk about half a kilometer from the school to my home, had my lunch then came out to my friends' call after my siesta.Played till we completely conked out, came back had my drink a small fresh up session then back to doing homework. At some other times if there was a power cut just when it was getting dark it was a real jamboree then.we played hide n seek n many more games but the best part of it all was striking of lightning stones to produce small sparks. We went around all evening after the game hunting for lightning stones.
The Scene at home was even more interesting and heartening,Dad n Mom used to count down the number of days to our trip to our native place.Sis n me loved the summer trip for reasons unknown. Our heart used to beat faster by the day with anticipation and excitement. We made all wierd plans for our trip. The journey by train was always the best part of the trip,we still are crazy about it,we used to fight for the window seat ,we still fight like matadors.Times might change,we will never.
Even better was the time when the train just entered the place, lush beautiful fields, dotted by thatched roof huts and long palmyras. Both of us loved all the attention and affection we received ant our granparents' place. We carried our books along assuring mom n dad that we'll do our homework ,seldom did,mom dad must have known that, even they would never force us into it.
More than ten summers down theline,I have grown, many things have changed, the games at twilight have been replaced by thelog rides along the sea,the party and the jam after power cut has been replaced by the long and endless gabfests on the beach, but the summer has not lost its charm and I'm hoping against hope that it must never.
Enjoy the Season
Chill Out ! Have Fun!
